Spring has sprung, and you know what that means — time to get organized, dust off the to-do list, and finish up the projects you’ve been putting off all winter. Here are some great tips for getting started:

 

  1. Make A Good List
    We can all agree that no matter what size your house is, spring cleaning’s always a challenge. You’ll be digging deep into all the nooks and crannies you don’t normally get to, and if you’ve never done that, where do you begin? Well, making a good list that breaks it down into smaller tasks is a great way to start (but don’t use list-writing as a reason to put off cleaning!). Write down every room in your house, and what needs to get cleaned in each one. By crossing things off as you go along, you’ll feel productive instead of totally overwhelmed.

  2. Take Your Good Old Time
    What’s more important, getting it done quick or getting it done right? You know the answer. Once you have your to-do list, you’ll probably realize right away how overwhelming it is to conquer the never-ending tasks. This will be more than a one-weekend job. So here’s our answer: Divvy up the time spent into manageable periods. You aren’t on a timer, so don’t get frustrated with the colossal amount of work to be done! But it’s still important to make sure you stay at least somewhat focused to get everything completed - This means staying away from all “smart” things... and anything else with a screen.

  3. Stock Up On The Good Stuff
    Spring cleaning isn't the most thrilling time in the world. It’s true. But it will become even less thrilling if you have to stop in the middle of things and run to the store because you're out of something. You probably already have the basics, but you’ll definitely need an all-purpose cleaner and glass cleaner, and may want to throw in some specialized ones like an oven cleaner, silver polish, or some wood oil. Please consider using “green” cleaning products — cleaning products that are less toxic, and better for your family, pets, and the environment. Green cleaning products are readily available at most stores. - Last but not least, do you have all the cleaning tools you need — broom, mop, dust rags, fresh vacuum cleaner bags?

  4. Get Some Good Help
    It’s never a bad idea to invite friends or family to help tackle some of these tasks... especially if it involves moving furniture. Put some music on, open the windows, and make a day of it by rewarding everyone with lunch or dinner and breaking out the Good Health® Snacks. As the saying goes… time flies when you’re having fun!

  5. What’s Up Must Come Down
    And finally, although it’s easy to get a little distracted when it comes to cleaning, it’s important to remember to work from the top down — no point in cleaning the rugs if you haven’t cleaned the ceiling fans and picture frames first, because that dust’s headed for whatever’s underneath it!
